Permission granted! We must rally our troops to march on Eccleston Square, preferably during one of their coffee breaks (9.30-11.30, 2.30-4.30).

Well said Damian, you're the Hayek/Reagan/Thatch of the RC church. Sack them all and send them off to the Wednesday job section of the Guardian.

Ferret in denial, nasty piece of work. It's been a long time since you've done much but snipe bitterly from the sidelines. Poor you.

Let's all snipe bitterly from the sidelines until they get the message - they're wrecking the church.

don't forget it's like a hydra...cut one of its heads off in London, another grows in Liverpool, then Bristol, then Newcastle....
Only one man in this country has the canonical, spiritual and legislative power to take them all on - but not until they make him the next cardinal....in the meantime let's help prepare some of the way for him...
Ready for duty sir !

Sound the organ! I assume we all know the PROPER words to "Onward, Christian Soldiers".

Damian, we absolutely need to ask Paul Inwood to compose a... "Jihad Ch-Ch" for the occasion..! ;-)

If you value your faith and your spirituality stay well away from church politics. They taint all who come in contact with them, from whatever corner of the ecclesiastical spectrum. Pray, do good works, whatever, but don't waste time with causes like this, either by working in church bureaucracies on one hand, or railing against them on the other. Religious faith works best at a safe distance from religious institutions. For Damien that probably means giving up journalism about religion - become a political journalist, a foreign correspondent - anything. For the people in Eccleston Square, it probably means looking for other jobss

Who is going to bring the knitting?
By Ray on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 2:26pm
Great idea - it can be like the final scene in Poulenc's Dialogue of the Carmelites, only this time the racial awareness sensitivity coordinators can sing something by Paul Inwood as they line up for the chop. Ch-Ch!

Can we have 'Full in the Panting Heart of Rome'?
By Michael on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 4:14am
I have searched through the "Ritual" but can't see where in the rite of consecrating bishops they are given a pair of open-toed sandals;the liberal/labour manifesto; and the removal of the backbone!

Latin is the language of the Church. We will have the Latin whether they like it or whether they don't

well we need to go by what our bishops say, there the sheperds of the flock. This is what our Lord said. and by calling them the smug, jargon-spouting, money-wasting old boy network of the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales, is indeed sin. Now i am pro- tradtion, but i will go by what the bishops say. I feel that the Second Vatican Council had some very good points, however some were a little to much. God Bless

You jeering mob! If it's not Jehovah's Witnesses, it's Bishops of the Anglican Church! You're a load of Secularists, and I declare jihad on all of you on your irrational, deluded anti-religion!
I'm not religious and I'm not secular, but you guys just braying against anything religious, anything that believes in a God out there, is nauseating!
Good for the Bishops' Conference! Let them meet! They'll make fools of themselves, to be sure, but that is more sincere than the miserable jeering you lot do!
And anyhow, it's their money, not ours! Or can't secularists distinguish between what is mine and what is not mine any more?
Have a good day!

What this country needs is not Archbishp Pell - though he would be a refreshing change of action and orthodoxy. What this country needs is a Chinese Bishop - from the underground Church - who will look around England and Wales and make the Lord's will known fully and clearly. "It is only in his own country...that a prophet goes unhonoured."
