Find out more | Contact infoWhen the Nobel Institute gave the prize to Yasser Arafat and others I had to roll my eyes as their 'efforts towards peace' were pretty laughable, but at least it was about peace.
Last year it was microcredit, worthy of an award, but nothing to do with peace.
Now it's Al Gore and a nameless panel on global warming.
Guys .. it's a PEACE prize ... it's about PEACE. Global warming is ... err ... I have no idea what prize Al and his pals were really up for but it sure wasn't the peace prize.
So, Jihad on you Nobel Peace Prize, I want you to give up your wicked political ways and return to finding someone who did something for peace.

Alongside their many eminently worthy Peace laureates, the Nobel Institute have a track record of also making awards which are either deeply dumb or deeply (and unintentionally) ironic. Tom Lehrer said that the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to Henry Kissinger in 1973 made political satire obsolete. For somewhat different reasons, this really rather crass award is another black mark against the Institute.
